GREEN HOSTING BY DESIGN SHRINE |
June 11, 2007 -- Design Shrine's data center is a proud member of The Green Grid, furthering our commitment to environmentally friendly operations. The Green Grid is a consortium of information technology companies and professionals united to reduce data center power consumption worldwide.
The Green Grid is working through its members’ interactions to develop new and meaningful, platform-neutral standards, measurement methodologies, processes and technologies that will improve the energy performance of data centers around the globe. Its board of directors includes industry leaders such as AMD, APC, Dell, HP, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Rackable Systems, SprayCool, Sun Microsystems and VMware.
An organization like The Green Grid is essential for effectively addressing the technology industry’s growing environmental impact.
February 5th, 2007 -- Design Shrine continues to focus on its environmentally friendly operation with the expansion of low voltage Intel and AMD processors combined with SuperMicro high-efficiency servers. The new low voltage Intel Xeon and AMD Opteron processors use up to 40 percent less power and produce less heat, while the new high efficient power supplies from SuperMicro are capable of up to 85 percent efficiency. The result is a very low power enterprise grade server capable of delivering the most demanding needs.
The data center includes the incorporation of environmentally friendly technologies targeting the efficiency of the datacenter. It has tripled the server density while reducing the overall need for power and air by focusing on high efficient low power equipment. It may cost more, but the benefits will last a lifetime.
